Negril é uma cidade em Jamaica.

Nos mapas espanhóis, o ponto mais ocidental da ilha foi identificado como Punta Negrilla designadas. Nos séculos que se seguiram, os piratas atacaram os navios que passavam por lá.

O desenvolvimento começou em 1958. Canais de drenagem foram traçados através do pântano e a estrada para Montego Bay foi construída. Em vez disso, todo o terreno entre a estrada principal e o mar foi dividido em parcelas com cerca de 75 m de largura, e o primeiro grande hotel foi inaugurado em 1977. Agora, são tantos que os suprimentos de eletricidade e água regularmente entram em colapso. Na virada do milênio, o turismo se espalha cada vez mais ao norte. Por razões técnicas, ao descrever Negril, faz-se uma divisão entre o próprio lugar com a costa rochosa a sul e a costa norte da Praia de Negril, que começa na rotunda do rio Negril. Esta parte norte é limitada à área à direita e à esquerda da estrada principal para Montego Bay, Norman Manley Boulevard.
